I live in a walk-up apartment block in a quiet neighbourhood 5 minutes from school ... with lots of students and a sprinkling of profs in it ... before that I was sharing a house a little further away with a bunch of students from the teacher training college here ...

Rhonda SG I don't think I'd like to live in a students' hostel either. I reckon it'd be way too noisy and like you, I cherish my privacy. I also dislike having to share bathrooms and laundry rooms and kitchens with the rest of the population there! I've visited my nursing friends in their hostels on a few occasions and was appalled at the how musky their laundry room smelled, how dirty and greasy the kitchens were, and how yucks their toilets can be! Nosiree!! I like my creature comforts too much, man!
av98m SG I like the McDonalds strawberry sundae as a quick acting anti-depressant. It's relatively cheap, and easily available all over the island. I've always believed that chocloate and ice cream work better than prozac! Taste better too!

Rhonda SG Biangz!! I used to slurp up McD's strawberry sundaes when I was in nursing school!! I'm going to ask mom if I have a long-lost brother or something! : And yeah... chocs and ice-creams are great perk-me-up's! There's nothing like a Swenson's sundae, with generous helpings of chocolate fudge and their strawberry sauce and all the works! Sadly, they've becoming very kiam siap and stingy with the toppings and all that these days!
av98m SG No idea really, I've been using the same external hardisk for that stuff for quite a while now. Simple matter of disconnecting and stashing in hiding place if needed. Never leave it in the PC's main hardisk! wait, I think you just need to remove it from the casing, take a sledgehammer to it and maybe run some magnets through it for good measure.
Rhonda SG Yup! Appalling, right? And that's why I'll NEVER stay in a students' hostel with shared areas like that and I pray I will never have to resort to that! Do you know it's atrocious too - their vegetables and bottles of sauces can go missing too?

av98m SG Piangz! This reminds me of an episode of Judging Amy (not sure if you watch this). Amy's a judge and her mother is a social worker. So as you can imagine they sometimes have really shitty days. Their freezer is well stocked with at least 5 flavours of ice cream, whipped cream, cherries, caramel and any topping you can think of. Once they both were in the midst of making their super ice cream combos and found there was only one cherry left. They both gave a short summary of their day to see whose day sucked more and the "winner" ended up with the cherry!
